Susan and I were recently in New York for Bridal Market and while we loved the new gown designs, something else caught my eye: headbands! They are the perfect answer for the bride who is a little less princess and a little more glam. Worn either over or under the hair, the styles work on a variety of hair types from Rapunzel-long to Twiggy-short. Here are my top picks:

Contemporary chic: Brazilian designer Lia Terni has created modern metal bands twisted into thin and delicate shapes, thick bold knots and dramatic edges, the perfect accessory for the trend-setting bride.
Beaded accents: Stephanie Browne Australia’s handmade designs are reminiscent of a 1920s showgirl, with flirty add-ons like Swarovski crystals, pearls, ribbons, emu and peacock feathers, and silk flowers.
Ribbon ties: England-based Justine by Design incorporates Swarovski crystals and Akoya freshwater pearls into her designs. Each elegant detail is placed atop silver, gold or ribbon bases; the headbands can be worn as chokers and belts as well — perfect for the girl who wants lots of options.
