Bad economic news can be good news for honeymooners — hoteliers are offering steep discounts to keep their rooms filled. Here’s an exciting one from Sandals: Guests who book a stay at any of their 12 resorts between Oct. 31 and Dec. 22, 2008 for travel between Oct. 31, 2008 and Dec. 26, 2009 can receive up to 55 percent off regular rates (three-night stay required) or up to two nights free with a seven-night stay in select specialty suites, including the new Swim-Up River Suites at Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa and Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Most of the time, fall promotions only work towards travel in the next few months; the fact that this one is applicable for almost all of 2009 makes it a standout. Sandals has recently invested more than $250 million to upgrade their top-tier suites with luxurious extras like four-poster mahogany beds, Jacuzzi tubs and 42-inch plasma TVs.
