Stylish Toronto Hotel

The last time I visited Canada, I found The Gladstone Hotel, one of my all-time favorite places to stay. Located in West Queen West, a hip, artsy neighborhood of Toronto, the boutique hotel boasts 37 rooms, each distinctively designed by local artists. I stayed in the Flight316 room which was created to make guests feel like they’re floating in the clouds, complete with a fluffy, white duvet and paneled wall mural replicating the sky. Other stylish designs include the Modern Citizen room with a peacock feather motif, the New Nouveau room decked out with elements from art nouveau and art deco eras, and the Trading Post with rustic bedposts evoking a log cabin feel. But the rooms aren’t the only attractions. The first night of my visit, I was pleasantly surprised to come across a bustling art exhibit in the second floor gallery. On the main floor, The Melody Bar served up stiff drinks in a fun atmosphere — assuming you like Karaoke — and brunch at the Ballroom CafĂ© was absolutely scrumptious, with blueberry pancakes to die for! If you’re looking for an artsy locale for your wedding reception, the ballroom accommodates up to 250 guests. While the hotel is a tad off the beaten path, tons of adorable boutiques, art galleries, and sidewalk cafes are within walking distance and streetcars make the rest of the city easily accessible. Rates from $185 CA per night, approximately $155 USD.
