Ditching the Tux

The other day my friend Charlie stopped by my cubicle for advice. He and his fiancĂ©e are throwing a Florida beach wedding this May, and he’s not really a tux kind of guy. He told me he’s looking for customizable guayabera shirts for himself and the guys in his wedding party, and he asked if I knew of any reputable companies that sold them. So I started asking around. Stephanie Skiba, chief coordinator of Cozumel Wedding Planner, recommended Wedding Tropics, saying she had recently worked with them to outfit her dad for an event. In addition to selling a selection of affordable, slim-silhouette wedding gowns perfect for the beach, they offer more than 15 styles of customizable men’s linen shirts, with embroidery available in 350 shades (from $69.95). A coworker also told me about mycubanstore.com, which sells guayaberas in linen and cotton, as well as tropical “Cubavera” and “Hawaiiavera” shirts (from $35). The lightweight shirts definitely make more sense for an outdoor affair and are plenty suave. What are the guys in your wedding party going to wear?
