Wedding of the Week - Genevieve and Jack

Though Chicagoans Genevieve and Jack Ashman contemplated marrying in the Windy City, since it’s a good center point between their families on both coasts, they ultimately settled on Mill Valley in northern California to accommodate Jack’s aging grandparents. (Since the wedding, his grandparents have passed away, so it was wonderful that they were able to be present.) The couple chose the Outdoor Art Club because of its versatility: They could hold an outdoor garden ceremony and an indoor reception without having to change locations. The venue enabled them to bring in their own caterers and alcohol, which helped them stay within their budget.

I love how Genevieve and Jack individualized their wedding. Since they’re not involved in organized religion, they had a close friend personalize the ceremony. They nixed the bouquet and garter toss from the reception and instead, had their talented nieces, Bridget and Kimiko, perform a few songs for the crowd. And they served cupcakes in place of a traditional wedding cake — a trend we’ve been seeing a lot lately.

Allegro Photography truly captured the beauty of this wedding; the photos are fantastic.
