Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti who have suffered unimaginable losses from yesterday's earthquake. We also realize some of you readers are planning weddings or honeymoons in the Dominican Republic, Haiti's neighbor on the Island of Hispaniola, and are wondering how the quake may have impacted the DR. The Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism issued a statement today saying that "the DR experienced no damage from the earthquake, and all transportation systems, communication systems, tourism businesses and medical facilities are operating smoothly."
Nevertheless, JetBlue Airways is waiving change fees and fare differences to allow customers booked to travel to, from or through Puerto Plata, Santiago or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Jan. 13 to voluntarily rebook their travel through Jan. 15, due to the earthquake's impact on the island. Customers may rebook their travel online at jetblue.com anytime prior to their originally scheduled departure.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the country of Haiti.
